My last blog post I shared some more about some of the most painful parts of my story.   If you haven’t read it – check out my post titled ‘ You can’t carry your ashes into a new season…Let them go

Well in that post I talked about the day I found my husband with another woman.  As you can imagine I was pretty down and it was at that point that I knew our marriage was really over.  I felt so crummy!  Well, I decided I needed a little pick me up so I went to Sephora at Oshawa Centre for the first time and I met one of the sweetest girls – Nichole.  This blogpost is dedicated to her!

I had some questions about some makeup to get and she just dove in and ended up giving me a make-over.  We ended up talking that first day we met – I told her about why I was having such a crummy week and she had so much empathy and just took care of me.  I left feeling a little better – I know it seems silly that getting some make up on would do that but it did.

This was the day that started my journey to learning how to do my makeup much better thanks to her!  But let me tell you – this girl – she is talented!  I have been to a lot of makeup artists and she is by far the best I have ever been to!  Periodically I would go into Sephora Oshawa to get some new makeup and she always took care of me.  She taught me as she would do me up, she introduced me to the other women in the store – she has gone above and beyond!  I even recommended her to a friend for her daughter’s wedding and she was blown away!

When I won Miss Plus Canada I had told her and she was so excited for me!  She told me if I ever needed my makeup done for a shoot or anything to let her know and she’d do it.

Well my first big appearance was Caribana and I had her do my makeup and she did not disappoint!

Take a look at what my makeup for Caribana looked like below!  Like come on! So amazing!  I actually couldn’t get in to see her the morning of Caribana because we had to leave so early, so I booked an appointment the Friday night to get a lesson and she suggested – why don’t you just try and sleep with your makeup and touch it up and add your lashes in the morning – and well, that’s what I did and it lasted all day!  I even did my girl Julie-Anne’s make up similar to mine based on the lesson from Nikki.

Then I had a photoshoot to do my comp cards and she wasn’t available to do my makeup but she recommended I see Shelby at Sephora and she did an amazing job!  My photos turned out amazing.

I had another shoot a couple months ago for SexyPlus Clothing – my official outfitter – located at 5100 Maingate Drive in Mississauga.  I told her about it and she came to my house and did my makeup and boy – she was just so on point.  She even gave me a couple lipsticks that went with my look – out of her own collection.

This girl is amazing – not just her makeup skills but her heart, her compassion and her passion for makeup and beauty.  I am so thankful to have met you girl and am so appreciative for your support, your help when it comes to applying my makeup and for being that person who I could talk to about what was such a horrible day in my journey.

Check out my shots from that day below.  A very special thank you to Stefanie (owner of SexyPlus Clothing) who has been so instrumental (and uber patient) in teaching me some things when it comes to getting comfortable in front of the camera and posing.  I so appreciate you, your encouragement, support and all the time spent with me!  Thank you for being such an advocate in the community for women to truly accept themselves just as they are!
