A couple weeks ago I started seeing these awesome shirts pop up on my Facebook and Instagram feeds.  They were pretty simple – Black or Pink v-neck T-shirts that said “Size Sexy” in bold.  I just knew I had to get my hot little hands on one!

They actually proved to be very throught provoking for me.  Why you ask.  Well as a Single Christian woman (who happens to be Plus Size) I’ve sort of been told that I’m not allowed to feel or look Sexy but I’ve come to realize that I don’t really like the idea of not feeling or looking Sexy.  As someone who has struggled with her body image most of her life, I used to hide in baggy sports clothes – big sweatshirts, sweatpants and certainly would never wear anything that hugged my curves.  I also would never wear a statement as bold as “Size Sexy”.  However, things have changed… Now … I dress my curves.

I really believe that regardless of what the number on that scale is, we are all beautiful, we have a right to feel sexy and I’m all about embracing who you are!  I encourage the girls I mentor to stop playing the negative tapes they have in their heads about their lack of worth and challenge them to start re-recording that said tape with positive affirmations about how amazing they really are.  I had to print my positive affirmations out and put them on my mirror and repeat them out loud to myself everyday for quite some time until I started to believe them.  Most of them were not physical attributes but rather referencing my character because truly, it’s what’s on the inside the counts.

I’ve received some flak from strangers and even friends and family asking me – why are you promoting being plus size and I wouldn’t say that’s what I want to promote necessarily.  What I do want to promote is self-acceptance and self-love.  For 28 years of my 30 years alive, I didn’t love myself and it’s a really sad and dark place to be.  In just the simple mind shift of acceptance and love in my own mind, my life has been transformed.  I can walk into a room with my head held high and be confident in who I am.  I am more than what you see and I am more than the reflection I see in the mirror and that goes for you too!

I asked Tierra (the creator of these amazing shirts) a few questions so you could get to know her too and her reasons for starting this unique line:

What made you start Size Sexy Clothing?
“I wanted to start a body positive brand that empowered women of all shapes and sizes.”

If you could give women 1 piece of advice when it comes to accepting their curves/sexiness, what would it be?
“Dress up in what makes you feel sexy and take photos. So on those days you don’t feel so hot you can look and know that you are.”

Who has been your biggest inspiration?
“My mother was a curvy, confident woman when I was growing up so I think that inspired me to be the same”

How can others get their hands on your shirts?
“You can get SIZE SEXY shirts at https://tierrasedgemoresizesexy.bigcartel.com and they will be available at SexyPlus Clothing after August 15th”
