Typically when I travel I head to Cuba, Mexico or the Dominican – probably been to each at least 10 times (yes I love to travel and would prefer to live somewhere that is hot all year around). This year I decided to switch it up and hit up the beautiful Island of Jamaica. When I won the Miss Plus Canada Pageant I received a travel voucher from The Flight Centre in Scarborough as one of the prizes so I decided this was a perfect to set out with my best friend to Jamaica.
Leading up to the trip I had 2 priorities….making sure I had some great outfits to rock and finding out where we could spend our time dancing the night away. We hit up a few really great spots and met some amazing people while were there and we had a lot of fun! This was my first trip there but certainly not my last. I cannot wait to go back!
Now it’s quite interesting the timing of this trip because I’ve spent the last couple of years working on building my self confidence and really walking out what I preach when it comes to accepting all your curves. So I pushed the envelope a little bit when it came to some of the outfits I chose. I even rocked a fatkini – and took pictures – and posted them. Last October I went to Cuba and I wore the same bikini but I hid the entire time and I certainly did not take pictures, let alone post them. I also wore a lot of colour (not my typical black), I wore my SizeSexy shirt out to the club (yup it happened – I certainly turned heads – both in a positive and a negative capacity), I wore short skirts, and even shorts!
This was probably one of my most fav trips of all time and I can’t wait to go back! How can you go wrong with sun, sand, your bestie, meeting lots of amazing people and pina coladas? I didn’t realize how much I needed a break and this vacation – life has been so busy this year with all the change but it’s been so exciting!
While I was away I also finished a really good book written by Mandy Hale (known as “The Single Woman” – that was the title of her first book). Her second book is called I’ve never been to Vegas but my luggage has” – you should check her out and follow her on her social media. Anyways, what really stood out to me in the final chapter was this… that so much happens in life – the good, the bad and the ugly but it all makes us who we are. We need to take chances in life and in love (even though it sucks sometimes) and life our lives out (full throttle) and enjoy the ride and that is more about the journey and the destination. That really…. its not about a happy ending but a happy everything as Mandy would say.
Now for the clothes….I packed way too many clothes and shoes. I had to put some in my besties luggage (who’s was underweight) because mine was overweight because I brought so much stuff – we’re talking enough bathing suits for a different one everyday, 1-2 outfits for every night ( I don’t repeat outfits when I’m on vacay) and then my workout gear. The sad part – I pretty much wore everything!
Take a look below at what I wore and where I got each outfit and where you can pick up yours. Each photo has links to each store that I purchased my outfit from. Most of my outfits are from:
SexyPlus Clothing located at 5100 Maingate Drive in Mississauga, Ontario (My official Outfitter for this year) and
Your BIG Sisters Closet located at 3126 Dudas Street West, Toronto, Ontario where I got my start!
We got to the resort around 9…grabbed a bite to eat, showered and went out dancing and this was my first outfit. I love this Galaxy Shirt that I got from Your BIG Sister’s Closet. This was my first purchase there so it’s no longer available but check out their store! I normally wear a tank top under that shirt but when in the tropics…it’s amazing for displaying my fav artwork…
This Sexy Columbiana dress from SexyPlus Clothing was a must for this trip, don’t you think? I thought it was great on the runway but this baby sure got lots of attention in the tropics…
This was one of my fav looks all week! Who knew that this Mesh Top from SexyPlus Clothing would work so well with a pair of jean shorts and heels. Check out my banging necklace too from Fifth Avenue Collection.
Something else new for me is wearing short dresses and this one pushed the envelope a lot. I didn’t realize how long my legs were until I saw the pictures. I felt so cute and flirty in this Chiffon Swing Dress from Your BIG Sister’s Closet. Too bad it’s so cold out here…I can’t imagine bearing my legs now.
Who knew that just wearing a little black tee and mini skirt would cause such a stir. But, YES MA’AM, I decided to rock my Size Sexy Tee at Margaritavlle one night. It was certainly a mixture of responses and head turns. But, rock your curves -wherever you go, whatever size you are! Get yours today by ordering HERE. Be sure to tag your pics with #SizeSexy on your social media when you wear yours!

This sexy one piece from Swimsuits for All is a whole lot of sexy and something I wouldn’t normally wear…but when I saw it, I had to give it a try. Check the website out for amazing styles of swimsuits that are flattering for plus size women. It’s so nice to not have to wear tents to the beach anymore and to actually feel great about myself in a swimsuit.
This is a fun story on this dress…I went into Your Big Sister’s Closet for a visit before my trip with a dress in mind…Peter said, let me guess…He went and picked this up – this was it! Your good Peter!! I just love the rope back! It was perfect for the beach party at the resort!
This trip was all about stepping outside my comfort zone when it came to fashion…and that included rocking a Fatkini. This number is actually from Walmart and I added the Mesh Top from SexyPlus Clothing as a cover up as I walked around the resort
I love this dress from SexyPlus Clothing by SWAK Designs. It’s a little black dress with a little bit of sex appeal that was perfect for my last night of dancing at Margaritaville in Montego Bay.
This swimsuit is actually what I wore in the swimsuit segment during the Miss Plus Canada 2014 pageant. It’s from Always For Me who was our official Swimsuit Sponsor. I got so many compliments in this flirty swimwear. My girl Tiff is wearing a suit from Swimsuits for All – which she loves!
And my final swimsuits to show you are both from Deb Shops. I love me some animal print and not bad for $7.50 each! Did I mention that I miss my tan?
