If you’ve followed my journey over the last year or so you have probably noticed that I’ve started to play around more with my style. I used to pretty much wear all black, you would have thought I was in mourning allll the time or on my way to a funeral.
I’ve found the type of style I like when dressing up but when it comes to casual wear it’s been a bit of a struggle. I figure I might as well be comfy when I”m dressed casual so if I’m not in a dress you’re likely going to find me in a pair of yoga pants and a t-shirt or tank. I can tend to be a bit of an extremist in general and it hasn’t been any different with my style. Let’s give me a little credit thought….I mean at least I’ve started to wear some colour and not all black. But when it comes to patterns I just thought I couldn’t pull them off – so I’ve stuck to solids for the most part.
But when I saw that one of my fav boutique’s, SexyPlus Clothing (located at 5100 Maingate Dr. in Mississauga), had started carrying an affordable casual collection I was so excited and couldn’t wait to try some of the new pieces.
This past Sunday I got to shoot some of the new pieces with Stefanie (who owns SexyPlus Clothing who also recently launched her own blog - SassyPlus). Let’s look at what I got to wear. I legit fell in love with EVERY piece and to my amazement couldn’t believe I loved the print, patterns, colours and variety of styles. The best part is that I looked cute but I was also comfortable – so maybe my yoga pants may just be worn in the gym from now on (no promises though lol).
I have included the links to all items I have links for (purple text) so be sure to click on them if you would like to purchase them or check them out further.
First Up is this whimsical, bohemian look featuring the Point Zero peasant top (I am wearing a 1x) with a pair of my new fav shorts (From Rainbow) and my fav sandals of the season from Nine West. Styled with a beautiful Gold and Topaz headpiece, I felt like a goddess and actually surprised myself how much I loved this new look for me.
Next we have another piece from the
Point Zero Curvy Collection - an embroidered tunic (I am wearing a 1x) that can be worn a couple different ways – as a dress (I love wearing tunics as a dress, I mean I don’t have these long legs for nothing). Or it can be worn with shorts – I have again paired it with my new fav shorts from Rainbow. Throw on a pair of flat sandals I picked up at Burlington Coat Factory and I’m ready for a day out with the girls or to head to the cottage.
Did you know that one of my nicknames in high school was mellow yellowz ….because I wore a lot of yellow sweatshirts and sweat pants…stop trying to picture that hot mess…it sounds as bad as it really was!
Well this lemon colour summer sweater was a major upgrade to my old style but I was so fond of it because I still love yellow. This is also from the Point Zero Curvy collection
- available HERE (I’m wearing a 1 x) and is paired with these amazing jeans that are also available at SexyPlus available HERE (I’m wearing a size 18 but they are a little big). Notice that these jeans are long enough for my long legs….
This piece is fun!! I actually just bought a similar top but in black (yes I still wear some black). But when I put this one on in colour, oh man! I just loved it. With the blues and the pop of colour, it was just perfect! This is the
Flowing Half Zip top also from the Point Zero Curvy line. Here I have it paired with another pair of sexy jeans that are also available at SexyPlus
Here and a pair of cute sandals I picked up at a shopping haul in Detroit last summer.
Again, if you know me, or follow my style, you know that I loveeeeeee coral. I buy coral in everything – Just can’t get enough of it. So when I saw this sweater I think I actually did a happy dance in excitement. From the delicate lace pocket on the front to the full lace back – I was just in love with this
light weight summer sweater also from the Point Zero Curvy collection. Here I am wearing a 1x and I’ve paired it with a cute pair of shorts I recently picked up at Forever21 and my Steve Maden sandal heels. I loved this so much I just had to have it and I can’t wait to wear it!
For my final look I bring you this electric
Neon & Chevron Ti-Front Skirt/Convertible Top. It can be worn a few different ways as a skirt and a few different ways as a shirt. Here I have it worn as a top with the tie in the centre, kind of like a present as Stef suggested. I’m wearing it with a pair of own tights that I picked up from SexyPlus a while ago – they are the only tights I will ever buy – they are long enough, aren’t see through and they don’t fall down like most do. They are available
HERE. I put this outfit on and man I just felt like a vixen! It was like I took on another personality. We had a lot of fun with this outfit so don’t mind my sassyness…..
The other thing that was really neat about this shoot aside from stepping out of my box was that I can see the progress when it comes to my fitness over the last year as well as my modelling. I felt so great after this shoot and totally enjoyed my day with Stef which was followed by an amazing lunch afterwards!
Now don’t be fooled, this is only a small portion of the new affordable casual wear now available at SexyPlus Clothing and new stuff will be arriving on the regular. There are so many great pieces at such great prices! Also, the quality is top notch which is amazing for the prices of these pieces. So make sure you check them out – they are located in Mississauga and you can order online (Internationally) and shipping is very reasonable. If I can’t make it into Mississauga I often order pieces online. Happy Shopping!!!
